Species fact sheets

As of now, we proudly present you our species fact sheets in English.

Every animal or plant species has its own specific needs, and bats are no exception. Species conservation is therefore an extremely complex matter. It is not uncommon for efforts to protect one species to run counter to another. And while some species, as generalists, can benefit from a variety of measures, others, as specialists, are dependent on very specific measures for their survival. In order to untangle this confusion in the best possible way and to help decision-makers in politics and administration in particular, but also associations and other people interested in bats to set priorities in bat conservation, the Bat Conservation Foundation has produced fact sheets on all bat species that regularly occur in Switzerland. These provide an overview of the respective species, their threats and possible conservation and support measures on a double-page spread. The fact sheets are available as pdf files in the download section below.
